Bruce, You seem to be a Bali lover as am I. I really like your page and think you point out the nicer aspects of Bali. So many people only see the shopping and pub crawling aspect which is so sad when there is so many more beautiful, natural things to be experienced. My husband, 2 children and I have enjoyed the wonders of Bali on 8 occasions and hope to return very soon. Fortunately for us we are only 3 and a half hours flying time from this wonderful island paradise, and it is very cheap for us to visit. Maybe we will run into you there one day. Excellent review on Bali Bruce! Definetly a destintation to put on my list of places to see. My name is also Bruce Briscoe! I live in California and am webmaster of Applecreek.com (www.applecreek.com) Another coincidence is , a very good friend of mine, and a wonderful lady at that, moved to Bali several years ago, her name is Rhonda and she does import/export of Balinese clothes IF!, you happen upon her on one of your trips,tell her your name and tell her the other Bruce Briscoe says Hello and big hugs! I enjoyed browsing through your Bali trip in 1997. Being a Balinese when we went to Bali we usually spent a lot of time visiting and very little touring the island. My husband and I will go to Bali in May 1998. Our daughter and her husband will come along ( This will be their third visit to Bali). Your story has so much useful information and I will E-mail your home page address to our daughter. Their family visiting obligation will be reduced so they can enjoy some of the things you enjoyed so much in Bali.

I enjoyed your site! I just completed a 3 yr. 9 mo. (Oct'95 thru June'99) assignment on the Island of South Sulawesi, INA. and throughout those years, made several visits to the Island of Bali, What a BEAUTIFUL Place. Bali is only an hour flight from Ujung Pandang, So. Sulawesi. If it wouldn't have been for the fact that the project I was involved with was 6 day work week forever, I promise you I would have spent many weekends in Bali!
In February of '98 my wife Dee form Dallas, Tx. came to visit me in Indonesia and during her stay we visited Bali 3 times one stay was for 9 days and we toured Bali from top to bottom. We stayed at the Bali Padma Resort Hotel, What a beautiful hotel and the management and help will be our friends for life. Talk about "Shop Till You Drop" well I never thought that would happen with my wife but guess what, IT DID! Dee said that's it I'm done, I almost passed out! Did you visit Tana Lot when you were there? Our favorite place to eat was at Jimboran Bay "C.J's Cafe". We found the terrain to be similar to that of South Sulawesi particularly the mountainous area of Tana Toraja.
We have several videos and boxes of still pictures and of all things we will remember is the smiling faces of the Indonesians and their friendliness.
Keep Up the good work Bruce, and I would welcome the chance to share our photos with your link, what do you think? Please let me know.

We visited Bali in 1995 ourselves. Returned again in 1998. We love the place. I couldn't have described Ubud any better and your descriptions of the restaurants were pretty spot on.
