[Ubud] [Kuta/Legion] [Best of..] 

Bali is blessed with an incredible assortment of fruits, vegetables, fishes, and meats.  Luckily we are an island (for the fish) and close to Australia (for the beef); while Bali has pigs, chickens, ducks, geese, and goats in abundance. 

All this, along with chefs from all over the world, gives Bali a wonderful selection of places to eat and foods to try.

I won't try and compete with your average travel book in terms of describing the fruits and local foods here.  You can read those for yourselves.  

On this page I'll just list some of the best places to eat and some BEST OF BALI foods here:

UBUD

Best of the Best:
Ary's Warung - (+62 (0361 975489) in the very center of Ubud.  Many times, beautiful long processions go by.  Best bet: Australian Beef Tenderloin; Chocolate Fondant desert!

Lamak - (+62 (0361) 974668) in the center of Monkey Forest Road.  Best bet: Risotto, Lamak Mango, Fried Blue Berry Ice Cream

Moziac - (+62 (0361) 975768) on the west side of Ubud.  Very beautiful setting.  Best bet: everything is special here!

Dirty Duck (+62 (0361) 975489)

Cafe Wayan (+62 (0361) 975447) a wonderful Balinese Buffet on Sunday evenings.

OkaWati's (+62 (0361) 976386) - near the soccer field.  Wonderful food, very inexpensive and beautiful quiet views over the rice fields.

To Be Avoided:

Casa Luna - used to be a favorite.  However, the service is just terrible!  The food is good though, but it also good at many other places where you are not insulted by the staff.

Try Casa Luna's newest place - Indus - their new place west of Ubud for an evening drink or Sunday Brunch.  Great food, nice service and a beautiful view.

Kudeta (+62 (0361) 736969) - beautiful location right on the beach!

People always ask me 'where is the best...'.  Ok, here it is:

Hamburger - BB's (+62 (0361) 975013) in Ubud.  Across from the market.  Australian beef - add gorgonzola cheese and the caramelized onions for a treat!

Onion Rings - Hard Rock in Kuta (+62 (0361) 755661) - WOW

Best Deem Sum - Dynasty Hotel in Tuban (between Kuta and the airport) (+62 (0361) 752403) - incredible all-you-can-eat Deem Sum buffet on Sundays for about $6.

Best Philly Cheese Steak - naughty Nuri's Warung - west of Ubud across from the fabulous Neka Museum.

Balinese Food - Made's Warung in Kuta (2 locations).  THE BEST!
