Big Month!

This is a very big month for the Bruce Briscoe family!  My birthday is the 21st (no, I won't say how many years - as we get older we start forgetting things, right), but it's BIG!  Then on the 26th, Yanti and I have our 2nd wedding anniversary - time really flies!  Then on the 29th, Yanti flies to LA to see my family and to pick up her US Immigrant Visa!  It only took us almost 2 years and over US$1,500 to get it, but she has it!  It means she can come and go to the US whenever she wants; can work there; even live there!

New Job

Well I have a new job.  EnglishFIRST, which is all over the world and has been in Bali for 40 years, has great on-line school.  It's called EnglishTown! I'll be teaching there full-time starting next week.  Actually, I can teach there from anywhere in the world as long there is good internet access, so I'll be going to Ubud to a Broadband Internet Cafe and teaching from there.  Each class is 45 minutes, so I sit there in front of a PC (Yea!) with a set of headphones and a mike and conduct the classes.  Students from all over the world just log in (it costs them about USD$24 per month) and I have a 'conversational' English class with them.  No video!  So I can't see them, nor them me.  I had my training today!  It looks like fun, so far.  So, that'll keep me busy!

I wanted her to arrive in LA on Thursday so she’d have a full day to rest and get over the jet-lag.  So, I was hoping where ever she stayed, she’d be able to relax until SATURDAY!  (It usually takes me 2 days to get over the jet-lag AND she’s never experienced it before).

So, she loves to cook and has a bunch of great recipes she’d love to cook for people (in particular an incredible sweet-beef!!!).  She’d also like to get any dessert recipes from you all.  Maybe any cheese cake ones in particular!  And Sandy, maybe you can chat with her about the catering business there.  She’s been talking about starting a catering business here.

She’ll also be bringing all the rest of our Bali Beaded Purses and selling them at just over our cost.  So, if you or anyone you know is interested, she’ll have those and be selling them for about $15-20 (for family) others $20-25!!!!!

While we've been busy here with our Bali family, my California family had some news.

My sister Kathy, who never ceases to amaze me, not only worked her way thru school to earn her Masters degree (and is now a teacher) while holding down about a million jobs AND taking great care of her family, has now become a web master!  Well, maybe not a master yet, but she and her husband Joe have started a web site: www.glowrc.com which is going to be an internet site to purchase RC (radio controlled) airplanes, boats, cars, etc. She's doing all the design and technical things.  So, if you are interested in this fascinating field of Radio Controlled toys, check out her web site.

My big brother John (well actually 3 and a half years younger), had some bad and then good medical news.  Seems he's been having small heart attacks (seemed like minor chest pains to him) and just went into the hospital for a quadruple by-pass!  Thank God, everything went very well and is fast on recovery and should be home by the time you read this.  So to everyone (including me), let's watch what we eat and get a little more exercise ;-0(
