I want to thank everyone for the kind comments about the new web site. Many of you have emailed me with kind words about not only my writing, but about all the photos as well... thanks. I have added a couple more photos to the friends page ( http://www.brucebriscoe.com/bali/friends.htm).My friend John Kassner is now visiting. He is the esteemed Innkeeper at the historic West Point Inn in Marin County, CA. If you have never visited this wonderful Inn, you are in for a great surprise. The Inn is located near the top of Mt. Tam in Marin county and has a spectacular view of the entire San Francisco bay! The very best thing to do is reserve a room or a cabin for the night. The Inn was built in 1904 and has been in operation ever since. It served as an overnight stop for people traveling to Stinson Beach from Marin and from San Francisco. Many famous people have stayed there as well. If you are ever in the area call 415 646-0702 and ask about a room in the Inn or better yet, reserve a cabin and wake up overlooking the San Francisco Bay! They'll give you the details. The inn is run by a group of only 200 volunteers. So go see what a group of dedicated people that really love and cherish a place can do! For the last several years I was the newsletter editor for the organization (West Point Inn Association) and served on the board until I left last year for Bali. I miss the Inn and the wonderful friends I have there! Here is a web site I found with a few pictures of the Inn: http://www.accessnca.com/features.phpJohn is having a great time now. Learning some of the Indonesian language and enjoying the sites and meeting wonderful and beautiful people. We went to the Mimpi Resort last week-end. A beautiful spot on the extreme west point of Bali. The rooms have their own private swimming pools and natural hot spring stone tubs! WOW. Plus great diving at Menjangan Island! We had a ball! John leaves this Thursday and I'll miss him. He's been a really great guest! My next visitor is my great friend Dave, who arrives May 26th for about 2-3 weeks. He'll be getting here after visiting Vietnam. So, I can't wait to hear all about Vietnam as I want to visit there soon. Meanwhile I've been busy at work preparing to head up a new division dedicated to Web Marketing! Should be fun! We'll be doing Search Engine Marketing and Targeted Web Marketing. The former has to do with optimizing web sites for each of the major search engines and the latter has to do with targeting specific market groups for clients and sending the group special promotional offers. If you know of any company that needs either of these services, please let me know. Our rates are VERY competitive and our track record is a very good one with many satisfied clients. I am also talking to two International schools here in Bali. Of the things I miss not being back in the states (friends, family, and my fav. restaurants come first), teaching is at the top of the list. I'd love to be teaching again, even if was just several days a week. Wish me luck trying to turn paradise here into the perfect paradise :-) My plans for returning to California in August are in flux! I am having trouble finding cheap flights back to Bali :-( Seems August is really booked up. So, I'm looking at late June, or July, or even September. I'll keep everyone informed when my plans firm up! (Attention: A variation of the SULFNBK.EXE hoax is circulating claiming that if a teddy bear is in your computer, you need to get rid of it! It actually points to another part of the Windows operating system and tries to get you to delete the needed file. DON'T DO THAT. Get the specifics of what to watch for at: http://www.sarc.com/avcenter/venc/data/jdbgmgr.exe.file.hoax.html) |
