Back to Bali!

Well, we're finally back in our beloved and beautiful Bali!  After one and a half years in China (it really seemed much shorter than that), we are back.

We've rented a huge and beautiful and super quiet house.  (Click HERE for some photos)  It has 4 bedrooms; 4 bathrooms; huge kitchen; huge fish pond; and an incredible view over a very large tract of rice fields.  It's located just on the east side of Ubud in a village called Peliatan.  It sits right next to the 5 Star hotel called Maya Ubud

Guest Room!  Yes, one of the bedrooms is our official Guest Room.  It has it's own bathroom and is very quiet.  We plan on advertising in the local paper as a 'Quiet Guest Room with Gourmet Breakfast'.   We'll charge about $20 per night for it.  BUT, for our dear readers - FREE!  So, call your travel agent and get those flight reservations in ASAP!

So now that we have a house, it's time to get all our stuff back together.  We've been storing everything we didn't take to China at our friend Bill Dalton's (the very famous travel writer) house.  So we've gotten that and am getting settled in.  Next week all our China things will arrive and then we'll have ourselves 'together' at last.

I've also been very busy trying to find a great teaching position here.  So, not only am I looking for work, but I'm also working with my friend Dr. Louis Leonardi and his soon to be published (September!) book and web site (www.PreSurgicalCare.com).  I've had a few interviews and so far, I'll be a part-time teacher at I/A/L/F where I was taught to teach English in 2002.

Our transportation is currently a nice motorbike.  I've owned cars in Bali before, but we use our motorbike around Ubud and will either get a car and driver to take us to the beach or to shopping; or I'll rent a car and drive myself to Denpasar when I'm teaching.

Right now, Yanti's family (mom, 2 brothers, grand mother, and 2 sweet cousins) are visiting.  They've been really great helping get things settled here.  The women-folk and cooking (Mmmmmm); while the men-folk have been installing mirrors, building some gates, etc.  They've all been a  huge help and I don't think we could have gotten re-settled as fast without them.   They head back to Java next week and we'll miss them all.

So, until next time - COME VISIT!

Next month: the Bruce Briscoe family gets bigger (no not just ME!)

Coming up:

October - Yanti visits So. Calif. for a short week to finalize here US Visa!

January 2006 - Bruce AND Yanti visit SF and LA with a stop in LV to see Elvis.
