Well July is starting off with a bang!  I sold my Oakland house to the friend of my wonderful friend, current tenant, and current property manager, Greg Lillion.  Her name is Tess, is very pretty and will be paying me over a 4 year period.  This works out so well for me as the economy in Bali is still in shambles here.  As a result I just signed a 5 year lease for a villa here!  Yes, a villa!  As it originally was set-up, it has 4 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms, 2 kitchens, AND a POOL!  It's set in the rice paddies like the previous house I had rented for the last 18 months.  So it's very quiet.  Yanti and I are busy changing it around. When we're done we'll have a master bedroom and bath; my office and bath; a GUESTROOM and bath; and a living room/media room with it's own bathroom!  It has a wonderful garden and a beautiful pool.  The sun rises over sacred Mt. Agung, so the house is warmed in the mornings.  There is a large wall around the property for privacy and it even has a little 2 story lumbung (elevated pavilion), which Yanti will use to set-up a massage area below and we'll use for romantic dinners in the evenings and/or as a place to sit and enjoy the views.  More later.

My great friend Carl Parkes, travel writer extraordinaire for Moon Publishing for many years and the man I first talked in depth to about my first visit to Bali in 1995, sends me interesting information all the time.  One bit was a listing for BaliBlog.  It's a site run by a great guy here.  Well, Yanti & I met him for lunch the other day.  Here's his comments.

In just a coupla weeks, John Kassner will be here for his (annual) visit.  John's the innkeeper at the historic West Point Inn which sits majestically on the top of Mt. Tam and over looks the entire San Francisco Bay, San Francisco, the east bay hills, and even Mt. Diablo.  The next time you're in the area, call 415 646-0702 to reserve a rustic cabin for the night.  Anyway, John'll be here for a few weeks and will be our fist guest in the new house!

I have my plane reservation for August 19th.  I will be in San Francisco until late September.  I Hope to have a cell-phone number before I leave here, so I'll send the number out when I get it.  Hope to see all my friends and relatives while I'm there.
