Well the rainy season has begun on Bali. Actually January and February are the two rainy months, but we really didn't have any full days of rain in January, just a few showers in the mornings, or the afternoons, or the evenings. But yesterday we had the biggest electrical storm I've ever seen. Really bright lightening followed by prolonged thunder, I timed one thunder clap at over 25 seconds. But on the bright side (of course), the rice around my house is now long enough (it was planted about 5 week ago) to blow in the wind. It is so beautiful and relaxing to watch. I think it's a 12 week cycle or so. I'll include some pictures next time. This time I've attached a photo of yours truly (Managing Director) hard at work. I don't normally wear a long sleeve shirt or a tie or gabardine slacks. But yesterday we had a photographer come in and do photos to be included in the marketing material Paul will be bring to the states in March for his sales and marketing trip. So everyone was dressed up! So cool to see all these Balinese guys in shirts and ties. (BTW - they won't be using this photo, someone snapped it in a meeting) Christina is still here. She had planned on visiting for only 2 weeks, but I was making a proposal to a new client www.sacredmountainbali.com and saw an incredible match between their web marketing needs and Christina's background. So we included her in the proposal and they said 'yes'! So she's staying through the end of February and will be working in the office and commuting 4 days a week with me! Then she'll be on a monthly retainer when she returns to the US :-) Talk about 'win win'. Then our friend Ellen will be here in late February for 2-3 weeks, so there'll now be a week overlap between them. Wow, two beautiful women visiting me at once :-) AND I just found out the Sabine the incredible German woman I met for one evening last October is finally returning in about 2 weeks. I hope to have her, Christina, and myself work out some kind of business thing here. Christina funneling clients from the US to us here. I'll keep you posted. Today Christina and I are off to our first business lunch. SacredMountianBali will be buying :-) We are to meet with the pres. and marketing director. Should be fun. The marketing director is a former marketing director for the Hard Rock in Bali and so I'm sure he'll pick an incredible place for lunch. Everything else is going well. Still meeting interesting new people and diving a lot. Christina and I are off to Menjangan Island on the NW corner of Bali for some diving this coming week-end. We'll be staying at the beautiful Mimpi Resort which is built over natural hot springs. So each room has it's own beautiful stone hot tub in it. The diving is in a national park and is really incredible - beautiful soft corals and lots of colorful fish. I've finally completed my Advanced Open Water PADI certification (I started it in October..), so I may take the 'Rescue Diver' course next, that's followed by the 'Dive Master' course, then the "Dive Instructor' course, so I'm still moving towards that. I've worked out a contract with Mega-Dive (where Suzie & I got certified in 1997), I'll be handling all their email communications and forwarding reservation requests to them. They'll pay me a % of the business I bring them, plus free dives, plus be able to purchase equipment thru them at cost. Wow :-) Things keep getting even better over here. I feel like I really have 'died and gone to heaven' - all without dying :-) |
